We have been talking about our vacation a lot.
Actually, my vacation. With Matt.
Because Mike switched jobs mid-year he does not get vacation time and can't go away with us. This sucks. But, I'm still going.
Since I don't want to drive to Vermont I looked into flights. And, the flight I will likely do stops in New York. Here's my plan.
I'm going to take a super early flight (5:55 am) with Matt from Buffalo to New York. And then we'll spend all day and evening in New York. We'll spend the entire day doing NYC completely. And then we will spend the night at a hotel, get up the next morning and fly to Vermont.
Seriously, I love the idea. The thought of going to the Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park and of course shopping thrills me to bits. One day. Matt could handle it. We'll take the subway. We'll maybe go on a tour bus. He'll take his first airplane ride.
I've been to New York many times. I know he'll love the hustle and bustle. LOVE IT.
Mike thinks my plan is insane.
It is, a bit. It would be a super long day. But, people, that's is what coffee and adrenaline are for. And, seriously, Matt runs on sugar. I figure he has it in him. And, then we will go to Vermont where we will relax, breathe in the mountain air, and get refreshed.
To me it's worth it.
What do you think???

Go and enjoy! In fact, we are planning a weekend trip to NYC in a few weeks. LOTS to do there!
And wave when you go over Connecticut - I'm not far from the city! xoxo
Well you know my answer...crazy! But that is why you are such a good mom, you don't let things hold you back!!! So? When is the big trip?
While I do think you are a bit nutzo (simply because I know that my bunny would CRASH somewhere during the day and be cranky, cranky), I do think that your plan sounds like a lot of fun!
Where abouts do you guys go in Vermont to relax?
Go for it! I am so jealous of you! i was this close to going next weekend but you know how things go! btw must talk to you about this!
K
Do it.
It's totally doable, as long as you don't try to take subways or taxis everywhere.
I'll tell you how to do it cheaply: park your car in a park-n-ride in Paramus, New Jersey, get a day pass on the Gray Line, and take the Holland Tunnel into Manhattan. The Gray Line has several routes you can choose from-- or you can do them all, and take in all the "touristy" destinations, as well as some others. There's a bus at each place every fifteen minutes or so. It's a really affordable option.
And you HAVE to eat at these two places, if nowhere else: Amy Ruth's in Harlem (soul food), and Lombardi's Pizza in Little Italy. It's on Spring Street.
I would skip the Empire State Building, too. It takes hours standing in line because of the post-9/11 security and it's a lot of money and just not worth it. And if you shop on Canal Street, watch your wallet.
Tell me everything!
I love NYC.
especially at this time of year- not too hot, lots of new great spring/summer clothes to buy.
have fun.
I am so jealous (in a good way!). I've never been, but please think of me when you see Burberry on the street :) Or hey, if there happens to be a Burberry sample sale, I'm willing to give you my mastercard :)
That sounds so awesome!!! When do you leave? (You know we have to get together before then, right...)
Sounds like an awesome fun day! Crazy? Yes! Would I do it? No way! But it does sound fun!!
I too love NYC. Must go back soon!
